In the past I have written posts about clothing essentials that every women should own.  Let’s add black heels to that list.  Black heels are another fashion necessity that can be worn with pants, jeans or a dress.  Black is versatile as it goes with all colors, and the variety of black heels is pretty incredible.  You can chose from either a plain pump (no straps), a pump made with two different materials (smooth leather and suede), a Mary Jane, a strappy style, a pump with laser cut outs, and the possibilities go on.

Personally I prefer a plain leather pump or one made with contrasting materials.  I really like the exotic/suede mid-heel pump at White House and Black Market for $30.  I think this style would look great with whatever you are wearing.  Another style I like is Carlos Santana “Libra”, a suede mid-heel that can be bought at Macy’s for $99.  My final suggestion is Alfani’s Kismit mid-heel, smooth leather, found at Macy’s for $60.

The three previous pumps I highlighted are mid-heeled, but there are plenty of 4″ and higher that are very attractive, just not very practical for 50+ year old women.  When I’m out shopping, sometimes I forget I have grown older and I’m still drawn to shoes with 4″ heels.  I have on occasion tried those shoes on, but as I begin to walk I wobble, lose my balance and grab for the nearest counter so I don’t fall.  I just averted a potentially very ugly outcome!

A new style that is currently hitting the stores is a very thick, stacked heel.  If a woman prefers to wear a tall heel but feels that the tiny heel is unstable and wobbly, this new style might just be the answer!  I am not excited about this new style because I think it looks very “clunky”, but I am always slow to make new changes.

If you don’t have a pair of black pumps yet, have fun shopping for a new pair!

Until next time,

Judy
