Black Pants Review
The importance of having a pair of black pants in your closet!
Linda owns two, Anne has one and Jean has enough to clothe an entire volleyball team! What am I talking about? Black pants. Besides jeans, a pair of black pants is probably the most versatile piece of clothing a woman could own. Not only does black go with every color, the right fitting black pant can be extremely figure-flattering. If you are concerned about your waist and/or hip size, avoid pants with side pockets, belt loops, decorations and drawstrings. These items just add extra bulk and attention to the areas that you wish to conceal.
Another nice fact about a black pant is they can be dressed up or down. A colored t-shirt with a scarf, casual shoes or sandals, accompanied by some simple jewelry is appropriate for a day shopping, running errands or a casual date. Those same pants can be used with a nice blouse, sweater or jacket, heels or nice boots and some fancy jewelry for a date or night on the town.
My most comfortable black pants are a polyester, rayon and spandex blend. I turn the pants inside out when I wash them so they don’t collect fuzzies from other items being washed, or I wash them separately. If the percent of rayon in the material of the pant is high, dry cleaning might be necessary. I buy most of my pants at New York and Company because I can get them in tall, but NY&Co. also carries average and petite length.
When you purchase your pants, make sure you try them on before purchasing or be prepared to return them. Unfortunately, pants are sized very differently depending upon store and style. Another benefit of trying on the pants before purchase is that you can see how the “caboose” looks! Don’t buy a pair of pants on the premise that you will lose weight and then they will look good…..no don’t do it. Also, don’t buy pants that are “crack creepers”!! You know what I’m talking about…!!
Black pants can cost from $30 to $1,000 depending on designer and store. Unless the pants can lift my cheeks three inches, minimize my waist by 6″, get rid of my cellulite and make my legs look as long as Taylor Swift’s, I’ll be very satisfied with my $50 black pants.
By the way, I like Jean’s way of thinking and I believe you can never have too many pairs of black pants!!
